Skilled CNC Machinist

Job Description

In this role, you will manufacture and inspect components by utilising various cnc machines, such as a Mazak or Citizen and measuring equipment, such as Trimos, VMM etc. Our ideal candidate will have completed a relevant training programme via an industry apprenticeship or possesses a machinist certificate and has at least two years of experience in manufacturing. Prior roles as a lathe operator or in another manual machining position are a plus.

Qualifications

  • Approved Apprenticeship Program (NVQ Level 3 or Equivalent)

Responsibilities

Here is what you can expect on a day to day basis in your role as "Skilled CNC Machinist". Even though good knowledge is required there will also be training given where necessary.

  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Set, program & operate CNC machines.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are carried out.
  • Fault finding and defect rectification.
  • Report and log data as required for production monitoring and actively assist in continuous improvement.
  • Carry out varied machining operations such as Turning, Drilling, Boring & Milling.
  • Carry out detailed inspections and be fully conversant in the use of all measuring equipment in the production of close tolerance components.
  • Share and transfer information to fellow colleagues to improve the development of everyone within the company.

Skills & Experience

  • 2 years experience with machining components.
  • Ideally a strong background in sliding or fixed head machining.
  • Experience in using conventional measuring equipment (Micrometer, callipers & gauges).
  • Experience of working to tight tolerances.
  • Strong housekeeping and continuous improvement ethics.
  • Able to manufacture high precision components from understanding engineering drawings including tolerances, surface finish etc.
  • Good understanding of CNC programs in a precision manufacturing environment and up to date manufacturing techniques.
  • Strong team member and willing to assist wherever required.
