Questions?

Here are answers to our most frequently asked questions.

To us, you’re a highly valued full-time employee and we’ll treat you as one. However, please talk with your college about the additional benefits associated with student status, like student discount.

You’ll return to your normal place of work with us.

You’ll study 2 days at college, The usual length of a lesson is 1.5 hours and typical lessons include Maths, Mechanical Principles, Project Management and Sciences.

The contract you sign is a contract of training. Our intention is for you to gain a full-time role, and we’ll invest in you and support you fully to help you achieve this. However, it’s not guaranteed but since the start of the business in 1976 nobody has failed to get a job at the end of their apprenticeship.

You’ll have an Apprentice Leader who’ll support you with your individual learning plan and rotation around the business. There’ll also be people in the business that will mentor you throughout your apprenticeship.

As part of our application you’ll be asked some questions that you may want to consider your answers to in advance. They are:

  • What can you tell me about NR Engineering?
  • What type of machining process are undertaken at NR Engineering?

[All the information to the above questions are found on our website]

  • What interests and experiences do you have that you think will help you build a career at NR Engineering?

[Specifically, how would they help you perform well in the sector NR Engineering works in? This can be related to anything e.g., school, work, home or somewhere else.]
